Early Age Orthodontics

According to the American Association of Orthodontists, all children should receive an orthodontic screening by no later than age seven.

Why by age 7?

  • Timely screening yields significant benefits; the most important being a parent’s peace of mind.
  • As the first molars erupt, the posterior occlusion is established. At that time, Dr. Ehsani can detect any functional shifts and examine the anteroposterior and transverse relationships.
  • The incisors begin to erupt, enabling Dr. Ehsani to detect problems such as crowding and facial irregularities.

Advantages of early treatment

Interceptive treatment:

  • positively influences jaw growth
  • provides harmony to the dental arches
  • improves eruption patterns
  • reduces the risk of injury to protruding upper incisors
  • corrects harmful oral habits
  • enhances aesthetics and self-esteem
  • shortens and simplifies future orthodontic treatment
  • decreases the possibility of impacted teeth
  • improves some speech difficulties
  • preserves or makes room for erupting permanent teeth

Interceptive treatment can result in simpler, more efficient treatment and more peace of mind.
