What are the major advantages of orthodontic treatment?

According to a survey from the American Association of Orthodontists, the advantages of orthodontic treatment are life-long. Patients who receive orthodontic treatment are more dedicated to maintaining good dental heath throughout their life.

Each day, we see patients develop more self-confidence and better self-esteem as a result of their beautiful new smile! Orthodontic care also helps control oral habits that are harmful, lowers the possibility of injury to protruded front teeth, and establishes a stable treatment result.

When should my child receive an orthodontic evaluation?

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that a child receive an evaluation no later than age seven. Even if Dr. Ehsani detects a problem, treatment may not be necessary. Dr. Ehsani will monitor your child’s development and begin treatment when it is ideal. Early treatment can both simplify and shorten the length of treatment for later orthodontic procedures.

Is it ever too late to wear braces?

The alignment of healthy teeth can be altered at any age. The mechanics involved in the movement of teeth are basically the same for adults and children. Dr. Ehsani can provide adult patients solutions for gaps, crowding, protruding front teeth and teeth that are in abnormal positions. Currently, one out of four orthodontic patients is an adult; 30 percent are male.

Why should only an orthodontist address bite correction?

Orthodontists receive training to qualify them as specialists for diagnosing, preventing and treating dental and facial abnormalities. After graduating from dental school, the American Dental Association requires orthodontists to complete at least two-years of post-doctoral, specialty training in orthodontics with an accredited program.
